Der Pioneer verbindet klassisches amerikanisches Boot-Design mit traditioneller Schuhmacherkunst und einem außergewöhnlichen Stück Schweizer Geschichte. Seine markante Moc-Toe-Konstruktion verleiht dem Schuh seinen charakteristischen Look und macht ihn zu einem vielseitigen Begleiter – vom Alltag bis zum anspruchsvollen Outdoor-Einsatz.

Das Obermaterial besteht aus originalem Canvas historischer Schweizer Armee-Hafersäcke aus den 1930er-Jahren. Dieses außergewöhnliche Archivmaterial wurde ursprünglich für den Transport von Hafer und militärischer Ausrüstung entwickelt und überzeugt bis heute durch seine enorme Robustheit und seine unverwechselbare Struktur.

Jeder Stoff wird sorgfältig aufgetrennt, gewaschen und für die Verarbeitung vorbereitet. Gebrauchsspuren, die authentische Webstruktur und die gewachsene Patina bleiben bewusst erhalten und machen jedes Paar zu einem echten Unikat.

Gefertigt wird der Pioneer  in einer kleinen Manufaktur in Portugal. Dort entsteht jeder Schuh in traditioneller Goodyear-Welted-Konstruktion – eine Bauweise, die für außergewöhnliche Stabilität, Langlebigkeit und Reparaturfähigkeit steht.

Die umlaufende 360° Stormwelt schützt den Schuh zusätzlich vor Schmutz und Feuchtigkeit und unterstreicht seinen kraftvollen Charakter. Für sicheren Halt und hohen Tragekomfort sorgt die robuste Vibram®-Laufsohle, die den Defender Mac Toe sowohl im Alltag als auch auf anspruchsvollen Wegen zu einem zuverlässigen Begleiter macht.

The Pioneer combines classic American boat shoe design with traditional shoemaking craftsmanship and an extraordinary piece of Swiss history. Its distinctive moc-toe construction gives the shoe its signature look and makes it a versatile companion—from everyday wear to demanding outdoor activities.

The upper is made from original canvas sourced from historic Swiss Army oat sacks dating back to the 1930s. This extraordinary archival material was originally developed for transporting oats and military equipment and continues to impress today with its exceptional durability and distinctive texture.

Each piece of fabric is carefully cut apart, washed, and prepared for production. Signs of wear, the authentic weave, and the natural patina are intentionally preserved, making each pair truly one-of-a-kind.

The Pioneer is crafted in a small workshop in Portugal. There, each shoe is made using traditional Goodyear welted construction—a method known for exceptional stability, durability, and repairability.

The 360° Stormwelt wrapping around the shoe provides additional protection against dirt and moisture and underscores its robust character. The sturdy Vibram® outsole ensures a secure grip and high comfort, making the Defender Mac Toe a reliable companion both in everyday life and on challenging trails.
